Adult honey bees (Apis mellifera) with deformed wings discovered in confirmed varroa-free colonies

Workers with deformed wings were found in colonies not infected with Varroa mites. Deformed wing virus (DWV) was present in the workers but at low level which usually does not cause deformations [1].
